We love our software, and hope you do, too—but we understand you may have a few questions before diving in. Below we’ve compiled the most common questions we get from food manufacturers about how our product works and how we can work together.
Yes, the software, services and labels provided through labelcalc are FDA compliant. We only use methods that are approved for use within the food manufacturing industry.
The information used to analyze your products for label production is directly sourced from the USDA food database. This ensures that you are receiving the most accurate analysis possible resulting in labels that are in compliance with FDA standards, every time.
Our database contains over 18,000 USDA-compiled lab tested ingredients that combine to create your recipes. Because this method is so accurate, the FDA has approved database nutritional analysis for determining your nutrition facts. We only recommend using a lab if your ingredients change in chemical structure during processing (i.e. fermentation during brewing, or deamination in cheese making).
Absolutely! LabelCalc allows you the flexibility of adding your own unique ingredients, saved directly into your company account. You can then add these right into your recipes.
Absolutely. Like online banking, account security is our top priority. Each ingredient is encrypted with an indecipherable code that is inaccessible to our team and outside personnel. Our confidentiality agreement states that we will not share your recipe information with anyone without your explicit consent. If you choose to use LabelCalc’s Personalized Consulting service, you can rest assured that only our confidentiality-bound analysis specialists will have access to your recipes.
Yes! Outlined on our Consulting Services page, seen here, we do offer a variety of package review services. Typically these package review services cost between $120-$180 per product depending on the complexity of packaging. Please contact us to learn more.
There are 3 three pricing plan options for the LabelCalc software:
- Pay As You Go- $225/per final product or recipe
This plan is designed for small businesses and/or the new food manufacturer who has 10 products or less.
- Expert Consulting Plan- $120 per product add-on to any plan
Designed for companies, manufacturers and/or brands needing expert consulting and support. You can collaborate with your own personal Registered Dietitian to complete the analysis and FDA labels.
- Unlimited Plan-$3,250
This cost-effective plan is great for the manufacturer who has more than 10 recipes, changes their products seasonally and/or plans to create new products in the future. With this plan, there are no limits on how many recipes can be entered, stored and analyzed. It’s everything the pay as you go plan offers, with no limits, at a fraction of the cost in the long run.
Each product/recipe is paid for individually. However, there is one exception:
If you have multiple recipe/products that are very similar in nature (needing only 1-2 ingredient changes) you do have the option of purchasing modification credits for only $60 instead of the full $225 for an entirely new item. (This cost saving feature is great for products like salsa’s with different peppers, chocolates with different coatings and meats with different seasonings.)
If your product line exceeds more than 10 items, our Unlimited Products plan will be the most cost-effective.
Most definitely! LabelCalc’s database is comprised of over 18,000 USDA-compiled lab tested ingredients to create your recipe. With over 21,000 products created, and more than 10,000 Nutrition Facts Labels printed, we have not had a single product recall.

To create a label you will need the following:
- Your product’s ingredients and measurements
- Your product’s Serving Size and Serving per Container
- The size/shape of your container

Not at all! LabelCalc is completely cloud-based. All you need to do is login to your profile on the LabelCalc website and all of your information is housed right there.
LabelCalc is 100% secure and your recipes are confidential. Upon enrollment, you will be presented with our confidentiality agreement and can rest-assured knowing that your data is completely safe.
Each account is username, password and security question protected. We’re so secure, The Pentagon uses us!

Your labels are available for instant-download the second you have completed
inputting your recipe data. Each Nutrition Facts Label downloads in a high-resolution file format. *If you are utilizing our consulting services, please allow 1-2 business days for label turnaround and availability.
