When you’ve built a platform on the foundation of nutrition analysis, there are a lot of avenues that you can travel down in order to solve pain points for the food industry, and even food professionals themselves. Nutrition courses come in many shapes and sizes, whether it is food science, understanding nutrients or even food safety, there is no end to the need for sound nutrient analytics in order to educate emerging professionals in the industry. If you are offering a course that requires the understanding nutrient breakdown during recipe building and or requires the ability to create a nutrition panel for recipes in order to educate on proper interpretation of the nutrition data, you’ve come to the right place.
Upon logging in as either an instructor or student when implementing the FoodCalc platform into your course structure, you’ll find a customized classroom experience. FoodCalc has provided the ability for instructors to upload weekly lesson plans, engage with students, and receive assignments all from their account dashboard. Similarly, students can interact with their professors, upload and download documents and submit assignments to their instructors without ever having to leave their FoodCalc account.
Guided Ingredient Entry
When getting acquainted with new technology, a learning curve is typically an expected part of the process. This is all-the-more true in a classroom format: both students and staff alike must become familiar with how to operate the platform in order to use it appropriately. For this reason, we’ve included an in-app avatar that is dedicated to guiding both staff and student through the basic flow of the platform and even into the specifics of ingredient entry. When course success is dependent on the ability of the student to absorb the knowledge and produce the right answers in their assignment, the technological learning curve should not get in the way. A.V.A, our assisted virtual analysis avatar eradicates a steep learning curve allowing teachers to teach and students to learn what really matters: the contents of their course.
To assist in the education of students on nutrient components, FoodCalc has included an allergen-flagging feature that cites and familiarizes the student with the Top 8 food allergens: Milk, eggs, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, peanuts & tree nuts. When a student is building a recipe, the FoodCalc platform will instantly cite the presence of any of the top 8 allergens for as long as the student needs to become familiar. If a course is built around the understanding of how to work around allergens and alter a recipe to avoid one or all of the allergens in product recipe, the allergen flagging feature can highlight errors and cite the presence of any missed allergens.
Accurate Nutrition Analysis
Last but not least, we must mention the most foundational component of the FoodCalc software that makes our platform such a perfect fit for the institute providing nutrition courses, why nutrition analysis of course. Our cloud-based platform allows both student and instructor to create recipes and enter ingredients while providing instantaneous nutrition reporting. Users can choose nutrient thresholds and specify what macro and micronutrients that they desire reports on. When an ingredient is changed in a recipe, the nutrient information simultaneously changes and the student can then pull a new report to compare values.
FoodCalc’s innovative platform puts nutrient calculation and customization at the learner’s fingertips while making the platform easy to use. Curious about implementing the FoodCalc platform into your nutrition courses? Contact us today.
