How to Create a Nutrition Facts Panel in 3 Steps

Create a Nutrition Facts Panel in 3 Easy Steps

Nutrition analysis. Sounds scary, doesn’t it? When you’ve determined to bring your famous barbecue sauce to retail, we’re sure that the words “nutrition facts panel” probably weren’t the first to come to mind. And we’re sure nutrition analysis probably didn’t come second. Bringing your product to market should be about accomplishing your dreams, right? The excitement of creating your logo, your label and choosing your packaging. And we agree! That’s why we believe that creating a nutrition facts panel should be super easy, and then we made sure that it was! With our platform, you can create nutrition labels for your food products in just 3 easy steps, we promise!

Nutrition Facts Panel

Creating your first nutrition facts panel is the easier than you think. You’re 3 steps away from finished!

Step 1: Enter Your Recipe

If you are still in “testing mode” you might not be ready for a nutrition facts panel. This step is usually one of the last before bringing your product to grocery retail. However! If you have solidified your final recipe, you’re ready! And that’s all the information that you need to begin labeling. Once you’ve created a name for your product, you can begin to type in your ingredients into our ingredient database search-bar. This will allow you to pair the nutrition values to your recipe ingredients. Super quick and easy, we even have an option to create your very own ingredients.

Step 2: Know Your Serving Size

This is huge, or small, depending on the size of your product. (See what we did there?) Your serving size is important because it informs the consumer (the person purchasing your product) how much they should be consuming in one sitting. It’s also something that the FDA has written guidelines on. But instead of taking the time to search for those guidelines, we’ve created a tool right in our platform that helps you discover the proper serving size for your product! When you’ve entered all of your ingredients, you’ll see how easy this tool is to use. Then, just identify how many single-servings go into the container that you are selling and you’re good to go!

Step 3: Review Your Label and Download!

Because LabelCalc compiles your allergen and ingredient statements for you as you type in your recipe ingredients, the only thing left for you to do is review them! That’s right. Once your recipe has been entered and your serving size/servings per container have been identified, all that’s left to do is make sure that your ingredient statement and allergen statement reflect your recipe correctly. Then… print! Or, send to your printer. Whatever works for you — we have formatted our labels so you can download right from your computer or send the file off to your designer to apply to your packaging. You choose!

So, you ready to create your first nutrition facts panel? Let’s go!
